Shot CSV format
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Golf Fellow imports your shots from a CSV file: one row per shot, from Trackman or any other launch monitor. You make the file, from your monitor's own export or with your own AI assistant, and Golf Fellow reads it on your phone or in your browser. We never connect to Trackman or any other service for you.
There are two kinds of file. A round file has a
hole column and adds shots to a simulator round you already
imported. A practice file has no holes: a range session,
a practice game or a Longest Drive game. Both update the carry, side and
spread of the clubs in your bag.
Rules for both files
- The first row is the header. Column names are case-insensitive; columns we don't know are ignored.
- Comma or semicolon separated. With semicolons, a comma decimal (
134,5) is fine. - An empty cell means “not measured”. Never write 0 for a value you don't have.
- The unit goes at the end of the column name:
_ydor_mfor distances,_ft,_ydor_mfor height,_mph,_kmhor_msfor speeds,_degfor angles,_rpmfor spin. - Use one unit for all distances, and one for both speeds, in a file.
- Side values are signed: negative is left, positive is right.
- Club names can be written the usual ways:
Driver,3 Wood,4Hybrid,7 Iron,7i,PW,56Wedge,56°.
Columns
| Column | Round file | Practice file | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
hole | required | — | Hole number, 1 to 36 |
club | required | optional | Without it, the app asks you which club you hit (Driver is preselected for a drive game) |
carry_yd / carry_m | required | required | Carry distance |
shot | optional | optional | Shot number (drive also works in a practice file) |
total_yd / total_m | optional | optional | Total distance, with roll |
side_yd / side_m | optional | optional | Where the ball landed, left or right of the target line |
total_side_yd / total_side_m | — | optional | Where the ball finished, left or right |
ball_speed_mph | optional | optional | Ball speed (or _kmh, _ms) |
club_speed_mph | optional | optional | Club head speed (or _kmh, _ms) |
smash | optional | optional | Smash factor |
spin_rpm | optional | optional | Spin rate |
height_ft | optional | optional | Apex height (or _yd, _m) |
launch_deg | optional | optional | Launch angle |
attack_deg | optional | optional | Attack angle |
path_deg | optional | optional | Club path |
face_deg | optional | optional | Face angle |
face_to_path_deg | optional | optional | Face to path |
A practice file exported straight from Trackman's own table, with headers
like Carry (yds) and Club Speed (mph), works as
it is.
A round file
Open the simulator round in Golf Fellow and choose Add from a CSV file. Rows without a club or a carry are skipped and counted.
hole,shot,club,carry_yd,total_yd,side_yd,ball_speed_mph,club_speed_mph,smash,spin_rpm,height_ft,launch_deg,attack_deg,path_deg,face_deg,face_to_path_deg 1,1,Driver,231.0,248.2,-6.1,148.1,101.3,1.46,2450,92.0,12.1,-1.2,2.3,0.4,-1.9 1,2,7 Iron,152.4,158.0,4.2,118.0,84.2,1.40,6100,88.5,17.8,-4.0,-1.1,0.6,1.7 2,1,Driver,224.5,240.1,12.0,146.0,100.1,1.46,2500,90.1,11.8,-0.8,3.0,2.2,-0.8
A practice file
Import it as Simulator practice: share the file to Golf
Fellow on your phone, or choose it in the browser. Put the date in the
file name (longest_drive_2026-10-14.csv) and the session is
dated that day, so your club history shows it in the right place.
drive,carry_yd,total_yd,side_yd,total_side_yd,ball_speed_mph,club_speed_mph,smash,spin_rpm,height_ft,launch_deg,attack_deg,path_deg,face_deg,face_to_path_deg 1,206.5,229.1,16.5,22.0,129.4,94.2,1.37,3072,80.2,15.6,3.2,-11.5,-1.8,9.7 2,160.1,199.8,-31.3,-42.3,118.7,,1.37,976,40.0,14.7,,-12.5,-6.6,5.9 3,192.4,228.4,9.6,13.5,127.2,89.6,1.42,1456,53.5,14.6,3.9,-8.6,0.4,9.1
With several clubs in one session, add a club column and every row is filed under its own club.
Ask your AI assistant
If you use an assistant (Claude or similar) that can read your Trackman or launch-monitor data, paste this:
Make a CSV of my shots for Golf Fellow, following https://golffellow.app/csv exactly. One row per shot. Use these column names: hole,shot,club,carry_yd,total_yd,side_yd,total_side_yd,ball_speed_mph,club_speed_mph,smash,spin_rpm,height_ft,launch_deg,attack_deg,path_deg,face_deg,face_to_path_deg - Leave out "hole" for a practice session or a game; include it for a round. - Side values are negative for left. - Leave a cell empty when there is no value. Never write 0 for a missing value. - Use yards, feet and mph throughout (or metres and km/h, but not mixed). - Name the file after what it is and the date, e.g. range_2026-10-14.csv.
If the import says no
- “No hole” on a round: every row needs a whole-number hole from 1 to 36.
- Missing columns: a round needs
hole, cluband a carry column; a practice file needs a carry column. - Mixed units: don't mix
_ydand_m, or two speed units, in one file. - Anything else: email hi@golffellow.app with the file and we'll look.
